(Marvins-Underground-K-12) #1
Seasons and Weather: Supplemental Guide 1B | What’s the Weather Like? 33

  1. [Show the class a patterned item.] This has a pattern on it. It
has something that repeats itself. [Indicate and describe the repeating
pattern in the object you are showing.]

  2. [Show additional patterned items.] What patterns do you see on
    this?

  3. What’s the word we’ve been talking about?
Use a Hands On activity for follow-up. Directions: We are going to
make a pattern with these blocks [or name of other manipulative.] I
will start the pattern with these blocks. [Choose three blocks of two to
three different shapes (or colors) and place them in front of the class.]
To make a pattern, these shapes (or colors) must repeat in the same
order. Which block should come next?
Now with your partner, make your own pattern with your blocks.
[Assist students as needed to create a repeating pattern.]
