Stone fruits—apricots, cherries,
plums, peaches and nectarines—
are in the Prunus genus of
fruits—and it’s a big family.
Besides multiple varieties of
the basics like red plums or
white peaches, there are lots of
hybrids. Some, like plumcots (a
50/50 apricot-and-plum mix)
occur naturally where both are
grown, while others like apriums
(a more apricot-dominant
hybrid) are hand-pollinated.
