STEP SIX: On both the Sky and Fore-
ground Color layers in the Ground
Replacement Group, click the space
between the layer thumbnail and
its mask to link them together. Then
click on the Sky layer to make
it active and press Command-T
(PC: Ctrl-T) for Free Transform.
You should see the actual content
bounds in the Transform control, but
also the central Transform reference
point (if you don’t see it, look for a
checkbox in the upper left of the
Options Bar to toggle it on). The
reference point will be at the center
of the selected content, not the
canvas. Notice that the boundary of
the Sky layer is outside the visible
canvas (press Command-0 [PC:
Ctrl-0] to zoom out to see the entire
bounding box).
STEP SEVEN: Zoom in (I’m using 400% here) for more precision and drag the
reference point so that it’s centered on the guides. Unfortunately, the point will
not snap to the guides, so you have to move it carefully on your own. Also note
that the cursor will change to show a tiny directional arrow when you’re close
enough to the point to drag it; otherwise, you’ll be dragging the layer content.
Only drag the reference point!
