ENHANCING A CITYSCAPE
Perhaps you’re more of an urban
photographer, and the streets are
your photo hunting ground, relishing
the sodium-vapor lights left despite
the LED invasion just after sunset.
STEP ONE: Open a cityscape image
using ON1 Develop 2021 from the
Photo>Edit In menu in Lightroom.
For this, you can hand-edit and
craft the final photo. Ultimately, this
photo will be a black-and-white,
so color isn’t an immediate issue.
STEP TWO: The image here has a
lot of clumped-up shadows, with
the highlights just on the edge
of clipping. You could boost the
Exposure, reduce the Highlights,
or Whites, along with the Shadows,
but it’s definitely worth seeing what
AI Auto can do.
STEP THREE: In truth, AI Auto looks
great. A hint more Shadows (29) and
it looks even better. Next is Trans-
form to get the buildings aligned.
In this example, we set Vertical to
7, Horizontal to –1, and Scale to 4 to
remove the black areas introduced.
Use the Grid settings to help as
you adjust the Transform settings.
