STEP FOUR: When done, go to the
Output Settings at the bottom of the
Properties panel on the right, and
set to the Output To drop-menu to
New Layer. Then click OK.
STEP FIVE: Now that we have all the leaves
nicely extracted from the background, we need
to separate them into individual layers. With
the extracted layer still active in the Layers
panel, select the Lasso tool (L) in the Toolbar,
and draw a selection around one of the leaves.
When done, press Shift-Command-J (PC: Shift-
Ctrl-J) to cut the selected object to a new layer.
STEP SIX: Do this to the other leaves on the
Background copy layer, except for the three
shown here (remember to click back on the
Background copy layer before cutting a leaf
to a new layer). Notice that the three that we
left on the Background copy layer are a fair
distance apart from each other. We’re going
to use this layer as a single foreground cluster
of leaves in the image. You’ll see here we have
a total of six layers containing all the leaves.
