STEP 14: Just as with the other
leaves, use Free Transform to
scale, rotate, and position the
leaves behind the subject. Here
we strategically placed one on
each side of the subject.

STEP 15: At this point, all the
elements are in position. Since
the layers are smart objects,
feel free to reposition, scale, and
distort them at any time. This
arrangement works for now.
The only problem is that the
image still looks a little flat with
little depth. Let’s change that!

STEP 16: Let’s start with the
background. Click on the
original Background layer in
the Layers panel to make it
active, and duplicate it by
pressing Command-J (PC:
Ctrl-J). Then click the Create
New Adjustment layer icon
(half-black, half-white circle)
at the bottom of the Layers
panel, and choose Levels.
In the Properties panel
(Window>Properties), you can
see we pushed the midtone
slider to the right, as well as
set the white Output Levels
slider to around 210. This will
darken the background a good
bit; we’ll add some more to the
background in a moment.
