LOUISIANA SUMMERS and okra were made for
each other. Th e Bayou State’s warm climate is perfect
for growing many diff erent okra varieties that are
delicious fried, pickled, stewed, or tossed into a pot of
gumbo. Find any one of them when you’re visiting the
farmers’ market these next few months. If you don’t
plan to use all of it right away, blanch and freeze it to
preserve for later.
