COLLEGE OF SWORDS ~~~

Bards of the College of Swords are calle d bla des, a nd
they entertain through daring feats of weapon prowess.
Blades perfor m stunts such as sword swallowing, knife
throwing and juggling, a nd mock combats. Though they
use the ir weapons to ente r tain , t hey are a ls o hig h ly
traine d and s killed warrior s in their own right.
Their talent w ith weapons inspires m a ny blades to
lead double lives. One blade might use a circ us troupe
as cover for nefarious deeds s uc h as assassination, ro b-
b e ry, and blackmail. Othe r blades strike at the wicked,
bringing justice to bear against the crue l and powerful.
Most troupes are happy to accept a blade 's talent for the
excitement it adds to a p e rformance, but few e ntertain-
ers fully trus t a bl ade in the ir ranks.
B la des who abandon their lives as ente rtainers have
ofte n run into trouble that makes maintaining their
secret activities impossib le. A bla de caught stealing or
engaging in vigilante jus tice is too great a liabili ty for
mos t troupes. Wit h their weapon s kills and mag ic, these
b lades eithe r take up work as e nforcers for thie ves'
guilds or strike o u t on their own as a d venturers.
