ct. This area passes for an artisan's dis-trict. Githyanki
engaged in distractions that involveartistry
or creation gathe r here , both to share their skillsand to show off their goods. Outsiders
can pass throughthe district i f appropriately disguised;
the githyankibring captured artisans here to provide
insight and tu-telage,
but rarely keep a close watch on them. After all, they have little chance of escaping the city.Shipyards. The githyanki
store and maintain theirvessels at docks and outcrops
that adjoin the militarydistricts. Those who are assign

are allowed to consider theirwork as part of their
military service. Githyanki war-riors provide labor as needed.Dragon Caves.
The shattered lower body of the deadgod contains an
abundance of natural caves and fis-sures. Each
of the red dragons that serve the githyankihas a lair deep within this region, jealously
guarding itshoard until it is called for s ervice. No one
has ever suc-cessfully mapped out the strange passages
and tunnels, and a variety of scavengers, astral

time in the caves, exceptas necessary to tend to the
dragons. On occasion, agithyanki craving a new

an enormous dungeon that lies be-yond the caves, a
hidden fortress occupied by a mightyde migod who claimed The One in the Void as its
homebefore the githyanki occupied it. Coteries of
Red Wiz-ards from the
land of Thay on Fae riin, accompanied bygithyanki knights
, have ventured into this area in recentyears. Supposedly,
the Thayans once emerged with ahuge
adamantine container that rumbled and shook, asif to the beat of a monstrous heart.SURVIVOR COMMUNITIESAs befits a society of conquerors, the githyanki have noregard for the victims of their raids. They take lives toassert their dominance, not
out of anger or because theyfeel threatened. From
time to time, instead of killing every·one they encounter
on a raid, they bring captives back toTu'narath
for various reasons.The
githyanki treat prisoners with the same detachmentand disdain they show for those they
slay. When captivesare no longer useful, their masters
might end their lives, orthey might simply stop
caring about their possessions andleave the creatures
to fend for themselves.The hardiest
and most elusive of these folk make theirway to the District of Discards, where they
can take refugefrom the threats that face them in other
parts of the cityand live in relative obscurity. The githyanki care nothingfor what goes on in these
survivor communities, unless adisruption becomes serious enough to attract their atten-tion. A group of would-be infiltrators might be able
to get afoothold in Tu'narath by stealthily entering the
district andblending in with a community of survivors.
