Whenyou install the software, we’d advise choosing the

optionsto associate the software withcommon file types.

This means that on some sitesyou can simply clicka

magnet link^1 to send the filesyou want to downloadstraight

to Tribler.^2

Standardtorrent files don’twork like this, however. Once

you’ve found the fileyou want (here, we’re downloading

an audioversion of George Orwell’s 1984 from the

Internet Archive’scopyright-free digital library),^1 right-click it

and choose ‘Copy link address’.^2

In Tribler, click the ‘+’ button^1 and choose ‘Importtorrent

from magnet/URL’.^2 A box appears whereyou can paste

in the addressyou copied.^3 ClickAdd^4 to send itto

Tribler to analyse the file.

Mosttorrents are made up of several files.For example,

our 1984 downloadcomes in multiple parts, including

cover images and the audio saved in both MP3 and OGG

formats.^1 Untick any partsyou don’twant to include inyour

download^2 and decide whereto save it.^3 Click Download.^4

As long as there are other people sharing the file,your

downloadcommences.^1 Click a downloadto get more

information on its progress.^2 From the Files tab^3 you

can see which files have downloaded, ifyour torrentcontains

several of them.

If you can’twait for a video or audio fileto download,

some fileformats can bestreamed as they arrive, st raight

fromTribler. Click the movie-camera icon or Play buttons

to go to the Player^1 and chooseyour file in the left-hand

panel.^2
