On 4 September,
Fahima’s family reported
her missing. And with
so many suspicions
around her disappearance,
they started asking
Ahmed questions.
Almost straight
away, he crumbled
under the pressure
and made a shocking
confession. He then led
investigators to where
his wife was – in a
shallow grave in the back garden.
Fahima’s body was found under soil in
the hole that was supposed to be used to
make the family pool, right beside the toys
of the two young children who would never

Ahmed also showed the police the murder
weapon – a wheel brace. He was arrested
and charged with his wife’s murder.
Investigators worked out that Ahmed had
murdered Fahima on 31 August – attacking
her in their bedroom in her sleep while their
kids slept in their own nearby rooms, beforeAugust, while the hole in the back garden
was being dug, the pair sent each other
thousands of messages.
For Fahima’s sister, it was purely platonic.
But for obsessed Ahmed, each message was
a step closer to him winning her over.
Then, on 1 September, it seemed Fahima
had opened the door for them both.
Ahmed sent a message to Fahima’s sister
saying his wife had left him. She rushed round
to comfort him.
But strangely, he told friends and
neighbours a different story – saying Fahima
had gone to have eye surgery back in the UK.
When Fahima’s family voiced their
concerns over her simply upping and leaving
her children, which was extremely out
of character, they got a call from a man
claiming to be from the police. The man
told Fahima’s father that Ahmed had filed
a missing person’s report.
It was meant to reassure them that their
daughter’s disappearance was being looked
into. But it wasn’t true. The man who hadW

So Ahmed Dawood Seedat
decided to have a swimming
pool put in for his two children,
aged two and five, to enjoy.
It was August 2018 and with
summer on its way, the timing
couldn’t have been better as
he hired a local landscape
gardener to dig a hole in
preparation for the project.
South African-born Ahmed,
37, had been married to wife Fahima Yusuf,
32, for eight years. He was an accountant
while Fahima, who was originally from Bolton,
Lancashire, loved raising their two children
at their home in Perth, Western Australia.
They lived a quiet life in their suburban
home – but that didn’t mean there wasn’t
plenty going on behind closed doors.
And there was a more sinister reason
for him having the hole dug for the pool.
Ahmed had grown tired of his wife and
said he was no longer attracted to her. He
had been making regular visits to a prostitute
for a long time and there were allegations
that he was using his clients’ cash to pay
for his sordid appointments.
Ahmed liked to gamble too and although
he wasn’t very lucky, he seemed to have
an infinite amount of cash. But there was
something he really wanted that he didn’t
have – Fahima’s sister.
Ahmed had developed a fascination with
the sibling, who never saw their relationship
