Dinner reservations at the Lost Kitchen in Freedom, ME,

have become some of the most sought-after in the

country-in part because of the reservation system itself:

To score a table, you have to mail the owner a postcard.

The restaurant, which opened in 2014 in an old gristmill,

operates only from April through October an d seats just

50 people a night. Owner Erin French receives thousands

of postcards every year from all over the world, and

although she and her staff draw entries at random, people

still add artwork, jokes and heartfelt stories to plead
