thesand,a chilledglassofwinewithinreach.I’m

gettingcarriedaway...

Manyofyouareweighingupwhetherornotto

riskbooking(orre-booking)a holidayabroad,thedecisioncomplicated

bya desiretosupporthard-hithospitalitybusinessesintheUK.AsI

write,restaurantsarereopening,buttheroadaheadisfarfromeasy.

I wanttosaya hugethankyoutothoseofyouwho’veinstinctively

understoodthechallengeswe’vebeenfacinginproducingyourfavourite

magazine.Yoursupport,aswe’veworkedaroundtheclocksomedays,

hasmeanta greatdealtotheteam.Butwe’vehada fewlettersfrom

peopleunhappythatdelicious.hasfewerpagesthanusualsoI need

toexplainthereasonforthat:lockdownhadanimmediateanddrastic

effectonoursales,advertisingandincome.Halfourteamwere

furloughedandwehadtorethinkeverything– fast.Wehopesaleswill

recoverandwe’reputtingeverythingintoproducinga magazinethatstill

haslotstoread,plusinspirationalnewrecipesyou’llbeeagertocook.

Thisandthenexttwoissueswillbeslim,soI apologiseinadvancefor

that,butI hopeyoustickwithusandthatwe’llseeyouontheotherside.

Nowforsomesunnynews:thisissuehassomanyenticingrecipesto

cook– dishesthatlooklikesummerevenifthesundoesn’tshine.

Stickychickenandspice-rubribs,sourdoughpizza,GillMeller’scorn

&cheesesoufflé,freshwatermeloncheesecake,crispybaconpotato

salad...Allmarvellous.There’sa holidaythemerunningthroughout,

includinga featuretowhetyourappetitefortravelsahead.Restassured

youcanstillrelyondelicious.fortestedrecipes,heart,soul,a senseof

communityanda h me.Happycooking.
