WELL REARED

There’s a foodie glow around new-season lamb in

spring, but give it a few more months so the flavour

becomes more mellow and you have something

even more special. The Welsh lamb from the

Penbedw Estate family-run farm in northeast

Wales is nothing short of exceptional. They do

a barbecue box (there’s still time!) for £55, a

‘Penbedw special’ box (half a lamb) that includes

a leg, another joint and lots of chops of different

kinds for £100, and a Sunday roast box for £55 (see

p76 for cooking inspo). Oh – and (love this) a doggy

box of offcuts for £12. I call that good value for

sustainably farmed meat of the highest quality.

BOWLED OVER – AGAIN

Regular readers will know I make a point of testing

products designed to protect our beautiful planet.

ReChic is a website to seek out as everything on the

site is made from something that’s had life in

another form. A big thumbs-up to the Tierra

serving bowl, which is made from more than 15

recycled plastic bottles but looks like textured

pottery. It has a lid so is good for a pack-and-go

jaunt (see p44 for inspiration), although it could do
