THE FUTURE OF FARMING
If you’ve been thinking more
about where your food comes
from this year (you’re not
alone), press play on the new podcast series Who Feeds Us? by Farmerama Radio.
Abby Rose, one of a team of podcast producers and hosts, works on her family’s
farm in Chile. She’s an advocate of regenerative farming (a conservation-minded
approach) and has developed apps to help monitor soil and crop health and manage
harvests. Along with producers Jo Barratt and Katie Revell, Abby explores how
food from land and sea can be produced more sustainably and better serve society.
In the seven episodes of Who Feeds Us? you’ll hear from small-scale UK
producers, including a Shetland fishmonger, an urban gardener with a ‘no dig’
philosophy (all about protecting the life in the soil) and a meat producer in Wales
whose Muslim faith informs his farming. Each shares their vision and talks about
how they’ve tackled this year’s challenges, with academics, journalists, community
organisers and chefs adding to the conversation. A thought-provoking listen.
