than30,000eggs
since March

Ispottedtherewerenoeggsinthe
shops.I knewtherewerea couple
oforganicchickenfarmsinSussex
thatsoldwholesale,soI posted
a questionontheLewesFacebook
group:if I couldgetaneggdelivery
forthenextfewweeks,would
anybodybeinterested?I had
60 ordersin2 hours– thehens
couldn’tlayfastenough!
ThefarmI workwithhasallthe
rightethicalcredentialsforme:the
eggsarefullyorganic,thechickens
arehigherwelfare,RSPCA-assured,
andit’spartofa schemewherehens
arerehousedaspetsafterthey
finishlaying.Moreandmorepeople
gotintouch,soI setupa website
and hired my friend Tracey, a travel

writerwhowasalsooutofwork,to
dodeliveriesinBrightonandHove.
I’vealwayslovedfoodand
cookingseasonally,andI particularly
wantedtosupporttheproducers
nearbywho’dlostalltheir
restaurant and hospitality orders,
