hristmas is but a distant
memory – well, aside from
the credit card statements
that have just dropped on
the mat and the extra pounds
you’re still carrying. The weather is
at its worst. People don’t want to
(or can’t) go out. The next payday is
still a week away. In any given year,
Blue Monday – the third Monday of
the year – would suck. This year,
you can multiply that suckiness
by a factor of... Well, by a factor of
2020, to be precise. Blue Monday
2021 could be the Bluest of Blue
Mondays but we have a delicious.
remedy to see you through the day:
light a fire or turn up the heating to
full blast, make sure you’re wearing

Chef’s Table Netflix
While it can get a little earnest at
times, when it’s good, Chef’s Table
is very good indeed. Each episode
of this Netflix series focuses on an
individual chef, exploring their
lives and philosophies on food and
cooking. Some are familiar (and
Michelin-starred), some are less
well-known (including chef Jeong

Kwan, a Buddhist monk in South
Korea), but the production values
will leave you hungry and with
very itchy feet.

Rick Stein’s Long Weekends
BBC iPlayer
Rick’s amiable wandering around
the globe has long made for
excellent television. This series
sees him seeking the best things to
eat (and drink) – and the greatest
things to see – in some of Europe’s
finestcities,includingCopenhagen,
PalermoandBordeaux.

considered. Expect high levels of
hunger and travel inspiration.

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat Netflix
If you read Samin Nosrat’s book of
the same name, chances are it
changed the way you cooked. Her
four-part TV series changes the
order slightly (no, we don’t know
why) and takes the likeable,
full-of-enthusiasm Nosrat to Italy,
