Last year’s lockdowns gave some

readers the opportunity to look

through old copies of delicious. – and

cook even more than ever

As a subscriber for many years

I’ve accumulated a lot of magazines.

I can’t bear to throw them out as

I get great pleasure out of reading

and cooking from old issues.

They’ve also been my lifesaver

in difficult times – going through

a divorce, when I stopped smoking

and, this year, during lockdown.

I cut out my favourite recipes and

collate them into binders (above).

I get totally immersed in this – and

it gives me a bit more storage space.

I hope sharing this may give other

readers the same idea and help them

through this challenging time.

I was really struggling at the start of

lockdown and my stress levels were

sky high. I decided to take my mind

off it by going through my collection

of cooking magazines, including

every delicious. since January 2006.

Each weekend I made a three-

course meal from around the world:

we had American night, Australian

night, Italian, African, French and

more. I really enjoyed filling my time

planning what we were going to eat.

We were going to have the holiday

of a lifetime to Disney World, but

our plans were cancelled, as many

people’s were. Instead, I was able

to give us a taste of the world using

your recipes. Thank you for helping

me reduce my stress levels.
