LISBON DREAMING:Page 132, boom, there it is, Lisbon
(Global Flavours, October 2018). I have had a love affair with Portugal
for a few years now, and as I see it promoted more often I cringe,
wanting it to remain a secret. I want to say, “Stop, don’t go there”,
but I’m just being selfish. There is much to this beautiful country. The
coastline at Cascais and the amazing Palacio da Pena at Sintra, a town
also known fortravesseiros, pillows of pastry with egg cream and
almond filling (and a secret ingredient), andqueijadas, little sweet
cheese pies. Abundant, fresh seafood eaten overlooking the Atlantic
Ocean at Nazare. The fortified medieval town of Óbidos where you
can sample the local Ginjinha cherry liqueur from a chocolate cup.
Olive oil and wine tasting in the Alentejo region. Back to Lisbon for

Congratulations, Amelia! You’ve won a Panasonic NN-CD58JS microwave,
valued at $549. The perfect kitchen companion, this slimline 3-in-
convection, grill and combination-cooking microwave delivers the flexibility
to create a range of great-tasting meals, easily and quickly.

a hamburger served without a bun at the Time Out Market and an
afternoon with a jug of sangria in the park. I have deliberately saved
the Algarve – there must always be a reason to go back. And if I must
share, let me tell you about the Casa Amora (house of blackberries)
guesthouse. The love affair continues, but I suspect my competition
pool is growing. Nerida King

EYES ON THE PRIZE:I have a confession to make: I collect
cookbooks and cooking magazines. I have collecteddelicious.ever
since it was first printed, and the very early copies were so far ahead
of anything that was in print at the time.delicious.was innovative
and showed unusual things to bake or cook – very exciting! I used
to enter cooking contests for charity. The judge was always the late
Bernard King. Every time something I’d entered won first prize,
Bernard, in his distinctive sarcastic voice, asked: “How on earth did
you think up something as unusual and delicious as that?” Thank you,
delicious., it was all you!Audrey Baillie
