business, dad had me save all the original bolts and hardware
coming off the old Fords. My duty was to wire brush and
clean up every one of them. I thought at that time how
foolish it was. Years later I came to realize he was teaching
me Mr. Ford's hardware was very unique and the Ford Motor
Company had a high standard and look of its own. A perfectly
crowned high head with a flat bottom. Most were fine-
threaded. To this day I observe many early Fords and notice
the hardware. It really makes a difference in the final looks of
