whohasa Jewishbackground,wasbornin Berlin.Shemarriedmyfather,a CatholicDutchmanfrom
Amsterdam.Decadeson,myeldestgranddaughteris gettingmarriedandasa giftforherkitchen
tea,I havecollectedmanyofmymother’sfavouritefamilyrecipesandplacedthemintoa simple
recipebook.Yourarticleremindedmeofhowtheserecipesaretiedwithmemories,despitethe
timeanddistancepassed,andhowfoodbringsfamilytogether.Someofmyrecipesarefromas
farbackas 1937 whenmymotherescapedGermanybeforeWorldWarII. Mygrandchildren
