FORONCEINmyprofessionallife,I amlostforwords.It’sso

hardtoknowwhattosay.Aswewenttoprintforthisissue,

I decidedtocompletelyrewritethisletterasourworldbegan

changingbythehour.Eachdaybroughtdevastatingnewsfrom

allaspectsofourworldatdelicious.: closuresforrestaurants,

bars,smallbusinessesandchefs,challengesforthenewsagents

thatsellourmagazines,rightthroughtotheairlines,andtravel

companiesweworkwith,thebottleshopsandproducersand

supplierswereunderthreat.Nottomention, of course, the

medicalprofessionalsonthefrontline.

Ourownteamgrappledwithsendingourveryfirstissueto

printentirelyremotely.Fingerscrossedwe’vebeenabletopull

it off,asweadjusttothisnewwayofworking.Andthatbythetimethisreachesyou,wherever

youare,youandyourfamilyaresafeandthatdelicious. bringssomecomforttoyou.Originally

thisissuewasabout‘foodwithheart’– intendedbecauseofitsproximitytoMother’sDay,as

wellastheheartinessofwinterfood,butalsotheloveandcomfortthatthisnourishing type of

cookingcouldbringaftera summerofwildweather,bushfiresanduncertainty.

ItnowmeanssomethingnewastheworldbattlesagainstthespreadoftheCoronavirus,and

resultingisolation.‘Foodwithheart’hasbecomeaboutusbringingyouourbestat a timewhen

youneedit. Manyofthestoriesinsideseemprescient.MattMoran’sflourlesscakes(p 90 – eerily

predictiveofthesupermarketshortagetocome),PhoebeWood’scrumbles(p98),JuliaBusuttil
