I firstenterthiscuriousstatewhileswinging
inmyoceanfronthammock,strungbetweentwo
perfectlyangledcoconuttrees,asa lightseabreeze
gentlyrocksmelikeaninfant.It strikesagainas
I floatinmyprivateinfinitypooloverlookingthat
samehammockandtheshallow,azurewaterof
theisland’sbeautifuleasternshore.
It comesasnosurprisethatwithinhoursof
arrivinginthistropicaloasisanddiscoveringthisnew
stateofcalm,I immediatelyfallill,finallysuccumbing
towhateverlurgyhadwipedouthalfourofficeearlier

Myfirststopis toseetheisland’snaturopath,
KimCampbell,whodevisesa custommenuofnatural
remediestospeedmyrecovery,allsourcedfromthe
island’sfarmandnativebush.Pineappleandginger
