shop in Melbourne. Its shelves
feature wine from Vino di Anna,
an Italian vineyard on the high-
altitude slopes of Mount Etna, which
they’ve both worked at. The vineyard
is tended to by husband-and-wife
team Anna Martens and Eric Narioo
(Les Caves de Pyrene) and the
bottle-shop owners have good
memories of helping out on the
estate in Solicchiata, Sicily.
“Everything is done by hand
and the work is very physical, so
we worked all day and then spent
ournightsatCaveOxeatingpizza
anddrinkingourweightinwine,”
saysMcCabe.“Inthevineyards,
theyhaveplentyofotherplants,
too,soeatingamazingorganic
tomatoesstraightoffthevineis
anotherstrongmemory.”
