“MostoftheotherredvarietiesinHeathcote
- theshiraz,thecabernet– havealreadybeenpicked,”
shesays.“We’repickingtheaglianicoforrosétoday.
Eveninour(muchwarmer)Milduravineyard,where
wehadtwobigheatwavesoversummer,wehaveonly
justpickedtheaglianicograpesforredwine.”
Chalmersadmitsthataglianicois notalwaysthe
easiestwinetosell,thankstoitsbold,grippytannins.

thepale,drystyle,buthersavouryreserveredis slower
tomove.Andshe’sheardofat leastonegrowerwho
haspulledtheiraglianicovinesoutbecauseoflackof
commercialinterest.Butsheis determinedtopersist.
