FRENCH LESSONS
To coincide with the Tour de France, SBS will launch
a new show hosted by renowned French-born chef
Guillaume Brahimi. The series will take viewers
on a tour of French cuisine, all without leaving
Australian shores. The 21 different recipes originate
from different regions of France, each coinciding
with the different Tour de France stages. Whether
it’s ratatouille and tapenade from Nice; mussels
marinières favoured by the Provence region; or
bouillabaisse with rouille from the Mediterranean
port city of Marseille, Guillaume Brahimi will share
his love of French cooking to impress Francophiles,
food lovers and Tour de France fiends alike. “I’ll be
taking viewers through an array of fantastic French
recipes, all using Australian produce,” says Brahimi,
who is also the owner of Sydney, Melbourne and
Perth’s Bistro Guillaume. “I’m also particularly
excited about the French onion soup, It’s a dish that
champions the simple onion, but it also holds great
memories for me,” he says. “When I was working in
France and it was the end of the day, the head chef
and I would often go to a 24-hour café in Paris, we’d
share a big bowl of French onion soup with cheese
and bread, and we’d talk about what tomorrow
might bring. This recipe is very special to me.”
Plat du Tour premieres Saturday 29 August during
SBS’s broadcast of the Tour de France.

Bready to wear
When Melbourne jewellery designer Ada Hodgson found herself diving into the isolation
trend of bread baking, it wasn’t long before she carried this into her jewellery making practice.
“I was given a starter and learned how to bake sourdough loaves, biscuits, croissants and
crumpets. Food and work became intimately intertwined,” says Hodgson. Soon enough she
crafted a collection dubbed Flour, comprised of tiny gold and silver croissants, loaves and
wheat sheafs. adahodgson.com/collections/flour
