FANCY FOOD

WORK

Ever wondered what it would
look like if beloved recipes were
transformed into art? Wonder no
more and get an eyeful of Food For
Everyone. The series of illustrated
recipe-themed art posters was
dreamed up by Melbourne-based
graphic designer Gemma Leslie.
Leslie was the marketing brains
behind cult accessories brand Lucy
Folk, then Covid hit and her job was
no longer. With more time on her
hands she found herself cooking
and painting, and then realised she
could combine the two, while also
helping others. Leslie designed four
posters, with recipes by Julia Busuttil
Nishimura (a whimsical illustration of
tiramisù, with a stovetop coffee press,
cream and little savoiardi biscuits),
Suzanne Corbett (an elegant green
bean and anchovy salad; pictured
above left), plus Clementine Day
and Ellie Bouhadana.
Each of the playful and colourful
recipe posters are printed on paper
made from recycled coffee cups and
are sent out rolled up and ready to
be framed. Better yet, 100 per cent
of profits are donated to FareShare

  • a Melbourne-based, volunteer-
    powered charity that provides
    around 6000 free nourishing meals
    to low-income families and those
    experiencing homelessness.
    “As well as helping FareShare,
I really want the posters to bring
joy to people’s homes,” says Leslie.
    Following this first series, she
will release another in the lead-up
to Christmas, and will do four
    collections of posters annually.
