Northern Lights,
Lofoten Islands, Norway
Between September and March, a spectacular
display known as the Northern Lights (Aurora
borealis) can be witnessed in certain parts of the
Northern Hemisphere. One of the best locations
to see the green swirls dance across the night
sky is the Lofoten Islands in Norway, as they sit
beneath the auroral oval, a belt of light encircling
the geomagnetic poles. Darkness, clear skies
and solar activity create the perfect conditions.
