THREE OF THE BEST CONCEPT STORES

1

Arrival Hall
Perth’s Northbridge is home to this
cornucopia of global design-focused
furniture and home accessories. It was
founded by husband-and-wife team Lisa
and Clem Tang, who take inspiration from
their travels and the joy in finding cleverly
designed feature pieces for the home.
There’s everything from planter boxes
inspired by Bauhaus architecture, to elegant
drink trolleys by Copenhagen’s Normann,
and there’s also a neat café attached to
the light-filled warehouse showroom.

Provider Store
Whether you’re after a unique
plaited-rope incense, delicate ceramic
soy sauce holder or yuzu-scented cold-
pressed soap, it’s easy to find something
simple and intriguing at this Surry Hills
shopfront. Taking its cue from traditional
Japanese aesthetics, Provider Store
features ceramics, candles and homewares
sourced from Japan or designed by owner
Tara Bennett. It also hosts in-house
candle-making workshops, and you’ll
regularly find Pocari, the resident shiba
inu dog, at the doorstep. 381b Riley St,
Surry Hills, NSW, providerstore.com.au

Mr Kitly
Melbourne certainly isn’t short on
design-focused homewares shops,
but Mr Kitly stands out from the pack, thanks
to its tightly curated yet expansive collection
of products. In the upstairs showroom,
a bold brass peppermill or pastel mint
self-watering pot plant might catch your
eye, while the well-stocked larder section
puts high-quality soy sauces, vinegars,
seaweed, noodles and miso centre stage,
complemented by a compact-but-quality
selection of cooking and design books.

Making plans for Japan
While borders may be closed currently, Japan is
looking to reopen to Australian and New Zealand
business travellers and holidaymakers as soon
as possible. Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs,
Mr Motegi Toshimitsu, recently spoke with his
Australian counterpart, Marise Payne, to discuss
resuming mutual visits, in the hope that borders could
open between the countries in a similar setup to the
proposed trans-Tasman travel bubble. gotokyo.org
