I

n the world of rosé wines, especially those from
Provence, from which so many of the great OG rosés
hail, some wineries just naturally possess a bit more
élan than others. Take Château Miraval, for example,
whose flagship rosé encapsulates all the pedigree and
panache befitting the 1,235-acre majestic estate—replete
with a 35-room château, of course—smack dab in the
heart of Provence. When its owners, Brad Pitt and Angelina
Jolie, in partnership with the Perrin family, debuted the
now-iconic wine with its bold-shouldered bottle in 2013,
it became an instant classic.

WHAT TO SIP
THIS SUMMER
Now comes the next
generation, a slender new
bottling called STUDIO
by Miraval, meant to evoke
a little more swagger than
its elder sibling. Conceived
to reflect the joie-de-vivre
of the French Riviera,
STUDIO by Miraval is
being hailed as a beachside
rosé, a carefree wine that’s
perfect for lunch on the
terrace or a picnic with
friends. STUDIO channels
the energy and spirit of the
French Riviera, resulting
in effortless enjoyment and
zero-fuss indulgence.

TASTING NOTES
We asked wine expert and
Food & Wine contributor,
Anthony Giglio to share his
take on what to expect from
this refreshing new wine.

“Four local grapes—
Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle,
and Tibouren—form the
band that performs together
perfectly at this legendary
estate where, back in the late
’70s, Miraval’s then-owner
and jazz musician Jacques
Loussier built a recording
studio that hosted top-
of-the-charts bands from
around the world. Since
2011, winemaker Marc
Perrin has been performing
one hit after another in the
vineyards, adding STUDIO
to his legacy this year. A
delicate intro of orange
blossom aromas leads to
a crescendo of vibrant
citrus notes, amplified by a
refreshing chord of salinity,
in perfect harmony with
the surrounding air of the
French Riviera.”
