STEP 2:Add More Flowers and a Background
Moreflowerswereaddedtotheinnerarmarea.Allof
theflowerdesignsweretakenfrombooksonflowersfor
amorerealisticlook.Stencilsweremadeforeachflower
and placed carefully to enhance the composition.
Thebackgroundwasdrawndirectlyontotheskin.Blue
wasusedforthebackground(insteadofthetraditional
blackbackgroundasusedinJapanesetattooing)tomake
thetattoobrighterandmorecolorful.Theswirlingforms
ofthebackgroundwere inspiredbyJapaneseartwork.
The blue also contrasts nicely with the flowers. No
leaveswere used withany of theflowersbecause we
wantedtheblueagainstthecoloroftheorchidsandroses
rather thangreen, and we wanted to keep thedesign
