Weezer
Rather appropriately for an album that subtly
references Radiohead’s 1997 album OK
Computer but jettisons the “computer” part,
Weezer’s 14th studio album goes heavy on
the orchestral element while stripping out
electronic influences – with even an electric
guitar omitted.

- The band had intended a different studio
album, Van Weezer, to be their 14th – but in
May 2020, its release previously scheduled
for that month was delayed indefinitely. - Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has
described OK Human as “totally different”
to Van Weezer. - He elaborated that OK Human is “all piano-
based, but it has a ton of orchestration.
It’s just gorgeous melodies and extremely
eccentric lyrics.” - Cuomo told Apple Music that he
considered a largely opera-driven Weezer
album “overdue,” adding: “I can’t believe we
haven’t done it before.” - Van Weezer, which is said to be more
metal-inspired, has been given a release date
of May 7, 2021.
