Marx and Mussolini 191
Benito Mussolini took many different concepts from many
different contributors, and not only articulated them in The
Doctrine o f Fascism but also acted on those theories. The short
lived Italian fascist state incorporated some, but not all, of the
theories enunciated by Mussolini. The concepts of absolutism,
irrationalism, imperialism, the organismic theory of the state,
and the corporate state were not original with Mussolini, but
probably best expressed by him in this century.
