When you shoot handheld in extremely low-light scenes
with artificial lighting, you’ll need at least one stop of
negative exposure compensation, otherwise the camera
meter will set a shutter speed that lightens darker tones.

All DSLR and mirrorless cameras offer in-camera noise
reduction, even when shooting raw files. The problem with
this is that the in-camera processing time is equal to the
exposure time, so if you’re taking a long exposure, this can
seriously eat into your shooting time. You can save time and
achieve much better results by disabling in-camera noise
reduction and applying it afterwards, during post-processing.
