ABOUT THE YARN
You can use any cotton DK for this pattern,
bearing in mind that a mercerised yarn
will have an extra sheen compared with a
matte option. As with all baby garments,
choose a yarn that can be machine
washed on a gentle setting. Place in a
small wash bag to protect the pom-poms.

For really tiny pom-poms, use an
ordinary dinner fork with four tines.
Wind the yarn round, halfway up the
tines, then push a threaded needle
into the gap between the second
and third tines and the bowl of the
fork. Bring the needle up to the front
of the fork, take it down round the
yarn and tie off tightly. Slip the tied
yarn carefully off the fork and cut the
doubled strands leaving enough for
attaching and weaving in. Fluff out
the pom-pom and trim to shape.
