    Queer frontier romance.
    In select theaters February 12.
Vanessa Kirby and Katherine Waterson, tired of
drudge work and truculent husbands, strike up a
forbidden romance in 1850s America. With cine-
matography that brings to mind a Winslow Homer
painting and a knockout performance from the two
leads, this film is more in the vein of Portrait of a
Lady on Fire and less, thankfully, in that of
    Ammonite. s.s.k.
