STEP FIVE: Open the Brush
Settings panel (Window>Brush
Settings), and apply the follow-
ing settings:

  1. Under Brush Tip Shape
    a. Size: Around 1,200 px
    b. Spacing: 25–35%

  2. Under Shape Dynamics
    a. Size Jitter: 33%, Control
    set to Off
    b. Angle Jitter: 50%,
    Control set to Off

  3. Under Scattering
    a. Scatter: 50%, Control
    set to Off
    b. Both Axes: Checked on

  4. Lock both the Shape
    Dynamics and Scattering
    settings by clicking their
    Lock icons.

  5. Options Bar
    a. Click on Load the Brush
    After Each Stroke icon
    (it’s the brush with an
    arrow pointing up)
    b. Preset: Dry, Heavy Load
    c. Flow: 50%

All of these are starting
points only and should be
adjusted as you get a feel for
creating brushes.
Note: The reason for locking
settings is to keep them in
place while creating additional
brushes; be sure to disable
them when you’re done!
