Adjusting Wetness in the
Options Bar allows for some mixing,
which creates softer blends. Start
with a low value of about 5% and
a Mix setting of about 20%. If you
do this, be sure to turn on Clean
the Brush After Each Stroke (the
brush icon with a line through it)
in the Options Bar so you don’t
contaminate your sample.

For most backgrounds, you can
create a uniform level of contrast
and detail across the entire surface.
For some portraits, you may wish
to create a vignette effect with little
detail and texture in the center, with
smaller and more detailed brush
Example texture with low detail in the middle and more detail at the edges marks as you move outward.

Softer background with less texture
