Photoshop User - USA (2021-02)

(Antfer) #1

NEW ADDITIONS

There are lots of cool changes here in the mag this
issue, and I want to be sure you didn’t miss any of
them, so here goes: First, we’re welcoming longtime
Photoshop User contributing author and KelbyOne
instructor Terry White to the magazine as he takes
over the “Photoshop Q&A” column from Dave Cross,
who did an outstanding job with the column for the
past few years (thank you, Dave!). Terry is a full-time
Worldwide Evangelist for Adobe (has been for more
than 20 years), and he has his finger on the pulse of
what many Photoshop users are struggling with, so
I’m really eager to read his answers to some of the
most-asked Photoshop questions.
We’ve also got some changes in the Lightroom part
of the magazine, as I’m handing over the “Lightroom
Q&A” column (which I’ve penned for some six years
now) to the Lightroom Queen herself, Victoria Bampton,
and we’re so delighted to have her joining us. She
is based in the UK and is an icon in the Lightroom
community. I know she’ll totally rock that column. If you
have questions you’d like to see answered here in the
mag by Terry or Victoria, drop us an email with your
question to [email protected].
Well, if I’m giving up my “Lightroom Q&A” column,
where does that leave me? With a new column called
“Photoshop for Lightroom Users” where I’ll try and
help folks who have come from the Lightroom side
and are just learning Photoshop from the ground up.
In my first installment (in this issue on page 54), I’m
talking about how to get your images from Lightroom
over to Photoshop for editing, and then how to get
them back to Lightroom (the round trip is easier than
you’d think).
Last issue we welcomed California-based photog-
rapher Ibarionex Perello to our ranks (you probably
recognize his name from his excellent street photography
courses here on KelbyOne) with a new column called
“Visual Storytelling” where he’ll be using Lightroom,
Photoshop, or a combination of both to bring out the
story in an image. He’s really got a knack for this stuff,
so make sure you check it out (his second column

starts on page 36 in this issue; click here if you
missed his first column last issue).
I also want to point out our “Questions & Comments”
buttons located throughout each issue. These buttons
take you directly to a topic that’s already created
on the KelbyOne Online Community for that issue
where you can ask questions, leave comments, share
work you’ve created using tutorials in the magazine,
or share suggestions for how to make Photoshop
User even better. The more you get involved in the
community, the more you’ll get out of your member-
ship—I promise. Plus, we have the most welcoming,
kind, and helpful community of its kind anywhere
on the web. It’s pretty unique, and there are just so
many great people from all over the world waiting
to meet and help you.
In other news, I want to thank everybody who
joined us for our two-day online “Travel Photography
Conference.” It was a huge hit, and we’re delighted that
so many people from all over came to join in. Next up
is our “Wildlife Photography Conference” coming this
March 16–17, 2021, and you can save a bunch if you sign
up now over at KelbyOneLive.com. I hope you can
make it. And yes, all of our conferences have sessions
on the all-important postprocessing in Photoshop and
Lightroom, usually including third-party plug-ins, and
right now we’ve never had better quality plug-ins out
there than we do today. It’s like I always say, “It’s a
great time to be a Photoshop user.” ☺
Here’s wishing you good health. Stay safe and
keep showing those pixels who’s boss!

All my best,

Scott Kelby
