hile most of us have been
reaching for our thermals over
the past few months, a brave
— or perhaps slightly bonkers — few have
been stripping off for daily dips in the
coastal waters around Britain. And though
the numbing conditions may induce a sharp
intake of breath, a growing number of
daredevils are grabbing their swimsuits
and taking the plunge.
As lockdown restrictions and fear of
infection have kept regular swimmers away
from their local pools, some are enjoying
the benefits of a socially distanced splash
in the open sea. The cold water is good for
your circulation, boosts the metabolism
and might even help to delay the onset of
dementia, studies suggest.
