Rear-wheel drive is now the standard of old. Easy to maintain, rear-wheel drive required the use of a
driveshaft that spanned a good portion of the undercarriage. A tunnel was built into the underside of the
vehicle to keep the shaft tucked up close and away from the roadway. Rear-wheel drive tended to be
ineffective in inclement weather like winter or excessive rain because of the lack of weight over the rear
wheels resulting in poor traction.
