Tom,

Q I own a ‘96 Dodge Stratus. Every time I hit a bump or turn corners, I

hear a loud creaking noise coming from the front driver’s side. Also, when I
turn the wheel the steering wheel makes a really loud squealing sound. The
power steering fluid is full. What could it be?

Charlene,

A Check the front lower control arm bushings and ball joints. It sounds like

a bushing or ball joint is worn. Also, check the upper strut mounts; it could
be a bad bearing plate. Finally, the cause of the squeal when turning the
steering wheel could be a worn or maladjusted serpentine belt; also, a bad
power steering pump would act like this as well. Good luck.
