Most timing belt systems are made up of a rubber belt, drive cogs that are bolted to the cam, and crankshafts.
On double overhead cam (DOHC) engines there are two cam cogs driven by the belt. Incorporated into the
system is a belt tensioner to make sure the belt is properly adjusted. Finally, in most systems, the water pump
is also driven by the timing belt.
