MAINTENANCE TIP
It’s vital that you change the oil according to the manufacturer’s suggested
schedule. If oil changes are not performed regularly, excessive mechanical
wear occurs, resulting in a loss of compression due to piston ring wear. The
piston rings seal the combustion chamber. The seal keeps compression tight
and the power stroke in a controlled downward burn. It also keeps strong
airflow into the engine, as well as a steady flow of exhaust gases out the
exhaust system. Worn out piston rings cause inefficient combustion, poor
fuel economy, loss of power, and premature wear of other engine parts.
