Keep your car’s transmission in good health and running cool this summer by
following this advice:
- Perform the manufacturer’s suggested scheduled maintenance consisting of
fluid and filter changes. Rule of thumb: every 25,000 to 30,000 miles. This
helps fluid to flow freely and keep cool. - Don’t overwork the transmission by overloading the vehicle with a ridiculous
load. Know your vehicle’s GVW (gross vehicle weight) and respect it. - If you are going to haul a trailer or carry weight, have an auxiliary
transmission oil cooler installed to increase fluid-cooling capacity.
Summary: Equation no. 2
Poor transmission maintenance + poor transmission cooling + excessive
towing load = FRIED TRANSMISSION
