A turbocharger is nothing more than a small turbine driven by the flow of exhaust gas from the engine. The
turbine inside the turbocharger force-feeds more air and fuel into the engine, thus increasing horsepower.
Turbochargers are usually located close to the exhaust manifold where maximum exhaust gas flow is realized
to drive the turbine within the turbocharger and boost the air-fuel flow into the engine. Shutterstock
