that switch controls – but it does
offer access to three individual
scenes by toggling the switch on and
off. We’ll have to see how this one
goes; there’s no HomeKit support as
yet, and no time-based controls, but
give the firmware time to grow.

T3 SAYS: A very neat idea – now
watch the clones roll in.

PHILIPS HUE WALL SWITCH MODULE
¤39.95 (around £35), signify.com

Pop quiz, hotshot: what’s the worst
thing about smart lights? It’s when
someone has monkeyed with your
light switch and killed the power,
turning your smart lights decidedly
dumb. Other companies have created
Hue-compatible switches in the past,
but the Hue Wall Switch Module does
things a little differently, fitting
behind any fixture without affecting
your aesthetics. It won’t make
standard bulbs smart, unfortunately

  • the Wall Switch Module instead
ensures your Hue bulbs are always
given the power they need, so you’ll
need Hue equipment on any fitting

HATCH REST MINI
$39 (around £29), hatch.co

They tell us it’s important to get
more than two hours’ sleep, but the
nebulous ‘they’ have failed to
account for the nocturnal habits of
the young. For the baby or toddler as
yet unconvinced by normal sleep
patterns, or even the tween with an
overactive night time brain, Hatch’s
white noise sound machine would
seem to be the thing. Joining the
Rest and Rest+, and indeed looking
like the company has basically
lopped off the bottom section of the
Rest+, the Rest Mini lacks the night
light of its larger predecessors but
will (we’re told) add extra unique

subscription-based functionality like
reading bedtime stories and playing
soothing music. If its functions sound
like something that would help you
with your own shut-eye, Hatch’s
grown-up focused Restore is
probably more the thing.

T3 SAYS: If they’re sleeping, you can
sleep. Worth every penny.

KLIPSCH PROMEDIA 2.1 BT
£279, klipsch.com

It is a time-honoured truth that
desktop speakers in the office are an
unforgivable crime akin to reheating
fish in the microwave. Desktop
speakers in the home office, though?
You make the rules, and we’d say
they’re making a serious comeback. If
you’re looking to boost the output of
your calls or dish up some sweet
working music, Klipsch’s ultra-refined
Bluetooth mini monitors might be
just the thing. They can, obviously,
now operate wirelessly, with a
side-vented subwoofer that can be
tucked away neatly. And while they
might be small – the MicroTractrix

mid-bass drivers are 8cm in diameter,
and the tweeters just 19mm – Klipsch
has been kind to the ProMedia’s
amplification, offering it a very meaty
200W power plant to really get
things rocking and on-board controls
for quick tweaks.

T3 SAYS: Time to take those endless
Zoom calls to the next level.
