Allow Guru to quickfire
nudge you in the direction
of some games he has
enjoyed with the kids (seven and
nine) and wife: Sheriff of Nottingham
(£33) is all bargaining, sacks and
making subtle ‘cock’ jokes that the
kids don’t get; Snake Oil (£16) sees
you combining cards to make
products to pitch to different
characters – even better (and
ruder) when played adults-only.
Mrs Guru likes Harry Potter:
Hogwarts Battle (£50); Guru less so.
Better is Hogwarts Battle: Defence
Against the Dark Arts (£25), which
spins its predecessor’s gameplay
off into a relationship-straining
one-on-one wand-wanging fight.

This is the kind of question
you guys should be
sending. Guru would say it’s
a tie. The classic 2x4 brick, an
increasing rarity but by far the most
formative element of the nearly-40-
year-old’s Lego canon – as long as
it’s not in that old red ABS that
used to shrink a bit and lose its
clutch. That’s right up there.
The (and Guru had to look this
up) Plate 2x2x2/3 with 2 horizontal
knobs? That’s great, because GaGu
is always looking for a way to
subvert the top-to-bottom building
structure and go sideways. And
let’s face it, you can’t beat a 1x4
plate hinge, for the same reasons.

Do I need to use

a VPN?

A

Ask a VPN company and
you definitely do because
the evil eyes of hackers
and ISPs and governments are
everywhere. Guru, though,
suspects many of the security
concerns they apparently battle
against have been inflated in order
to deflect from the real reason you
might employ a VPN. Namely,
cheeky region-switching.
Let’s face it: Netflix et al know
this is happening. If they didn’t
want to pipe US-only content to
you when your UK-registered
account suddenly teleports to
California, they’d sort out a regional
account system. So Guru says you
should go ahead and enjoy, and do
whatever it takes to get the internet
experience you think you deserve.

DAVE STOCK,

TENET
It get didn’t Guru. The timey-
wimey film flew through
Guru’s eyes, ricocheted about
his brain, then dribbled out
of his ears. Maybe why he
couldn’t hear the dialogue.

GMHIKARU
There’s a void between your
author’s 500 ELO chess rating
and his ambition, so he’s spent
hours watching Grandmaster
Hikaru Nakamura make it look
easy on Twitch. Mesmerising.

RARE CHANGES
Mayer Hawthorne’s lovely new
album is finally here, dishing
up a solid portion of smooth
tunes that burrow into your
soul and don’t let go. You’ll sing
along, but not as well as Mayer.
