Where Scoliosis Affects

Scoliosis affects the spine in three main parts: the cervical
spine also known as the neck, the thoracic spine known as
the upper back area and chest, and the lower back known as
the lumbar spine.

Complications

In extreme cases of scoliosis, the rib cage can strain against
the lungs and abdomen, making it difficult to breathe and
harder for the heart to pump. Individuals who had scoliosis
as kids are also more likely to have constant back pain. As
scoliosis worsens, it can also cause more visible changes, like
irregular hips and uneven shoulders.
