2 PROjECT PRIDE


Earlier we had implemented a 50 TPH grinding unit in
Assam named “Project Indigo”, and now it was time to fix
the title of this new project. Everyone’s interest was aroused
when our top leadership asked for suggestions to assign a
name to the new project. Many suggestions reached our
core committee and finally it was named “Project Pride”,
since it would be the pride of Dalmia Cement (Bharat)
Limited (DCBL), with the company becoming a market
leader in the eastern zone. Not just the company, it would
also be the pride of all direct and indirect stakeholders as
the team was aiming to complete the project in the shortest
time among similar-sized plants.
Discussion started on the targets for implementation
to meet management requirements and establish a new
benchmark in completing it in record time. Over and above,
the plant would be best-in-class for operational efficiencies
and a model for others to emulate, especially technologies
supporting sustainability.
Before going to the next step, we wanted to share how
the project was conceptualized. While preparing tender
documents we referred to several design books, opted for
the best operating experiences and prepared a detailed and
exhaustive EP tender document inclusive of mechanical,
electrical & instrumentation engineering, and procurement
details.
The tender document contained the plant design
basis, approved sub-vendor list, norms of de-dusting,
bulk density chart, standard motor frame sizes, design
